Marcelo Bielsa has told Sam Greenwood that he is not far from a chance in the Leeds United first-team as the forward attracts loan interest from a number of Championship sides, according to a report from Wales Online.
Greenwood has been an inspired addition to the Whites’ under-23 ranks following his £3 million move (via Standard). He has scored six goals in Premier League 2 for Mark Jackson’s side.

He has also demonstrated his versatility. Greenwood began the season as a striker. But he has more recently impressed in the number eight role.
Wales Online reports that Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday and Bournemouth all want Greenwood on loan next month.

It is claimed in the report that Cardiff is seen as a good fit for the 18-year-old. It is not clear what Leeds make of the other potential options on the table.
However, it would appear that Bielsa may ultimately decide to keep Greenwood at Elland Road.
According to Wales Online, Bielsa has told Greenwood that he is not far from a first-team chance. So perhaps any decision taken in January will highlight just how close he is.
TBR View: Holding onto Greenwood could be big statement from Bielsa
It would send out quite a message if Leeds held onto Greenwood through next month. It would perhaps hint that Bielsa could see the forward making his debut this season.
The Whites boss should also consider how the youngsters they have loaned out this term have got on so far. There have been some mixed results.
For example, Robbie Gotts looks to have found his feet at Lincoln. But Jordan Stevens has found things a little more difficult at Swindon after a lightning start.
So that may influence Leeds’s thinking. And should he stay, perhaps it should not be a surprise if he does feature for the first-team before the campaign concludes.
