It is not out of the question for West Brom to receive a huge boost ahead of their return to the Championship next season, with The Athletic sharing an update on Okay Yokuslu’s future at the Hawthorns.

Yokuslu has proved to be an inspired addition following his arrival on loan in the January transfer window.

However, the moves for Yokuslu, as well as Mbaye Diagne and Ainsley Maitland-Niles came too late to save the Baggies, as their relegation was confirmed on Sunday.

Fans would be forgiven for anticipating that a number of their best players are unlikely to be with the club next season – particularly the loanees that they signed this season.

But perhaps, it is not out of the question for the Turkey international to stay put next season.

The Athletic has suggested that Yokuslu has offered some words of encouragement that he could possibly stick around beyond this campaign.

However, the report adds that the Baggies still regard trying to keep him as a long shot.

But it is certainly encouraging that there does seem to be a chance. The 27-year-old has been outstanding since joining the club.

And if he can remain in the ranks, West Brom’s hopes of immediately bouncing back would be boosted considerably.

The Athletic reports that there is likely to be Premier League interest in Yokuslu. So that may not help them. But he is said to be settled in Birmingham.

West Brom now need to show players such as Yokuslu some sort of vision ahead of next season.

They will be amongst the favourites for automatic-promotion next year. So it seems imperative that they also put plans in place that could potentially give the Baggies a better chance of staying up should they make an immediate return to the top flight.
