Crystal Palace could look to make a bid for Odsonne Edouard in the summer with The Sun reporting that they expect to have no success with an offer for the Celtic striker during the January window.
The Sun reports that Edouard is Roy Hodgson’s top attacking target. The Frenchman is enjoying another fantastic campaign with the Hoops. The 21-year-old has scored 17 goals in all competitions.
Unsurprisingly, it appears that Celtic have no interest in letting Edouard leave Parkhead this month. And that has seemingly prompted Palace to consider a change of plan.
The Sun reports that the Eagles are looking at taking Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi on loan for the rest of the season. They have reportedly had no encouragement in their attempts to sign Edouard, and could now make a bid in the summer.
TBR View – Massive boost for Celtic
Behind the scenes, Edouard may have already made it clear that he is happy to stay anyway. But it could still be deemed a big boost that Celtic have seemingly done enough to put Palace off this month.
The speculation would do Neil Lennon’s men few favours during the coming weeks. Edouard is arguably the player who would hurt Celtic most by leaving this month.
But Celtic appear to have made a big statement ahead of the second-half of the season by forcing one of his admirers into a change of plan.
