Report shares Tottenham stance on selling Harry Winks this summer

Tottenham Hotspur will consider offers for Harry Winks this summer, with the Daily Star reporting that both Southampton and Crystal Palace are interested in the midfielder.

Winks has had another turbulent season with Spurs. The arrival of Antonio Conte appeared to have the potential to transform his situation after he fell out of favour.

And Conte has said a lot of positive things about the England international. He confirmed ahead of the January transfer window that Winks would be staying at Tottenham as he could count on him.

And just this month, the Italian made a point of mentioning Winks and his improvement after their win at Brighton. The 26-year-old did not even play in the game.

However, it would appear that his departure could now be on the cards. He has fallen back down the pecking order following the arrival of Rodrigo Bentancur in January.

The Daily Star reports that Tottenham will consider bids for Winks in the summer. And he is attracting attention, with Southampton and Palace interested.

Time right for Tottenham to sell Harry Winks

Unfortunately for Winks, it appears that his resurgence at the start of Conte’s tenure may have proved to have been a false dawn.

He is a good player. Mauricio Pochettino once described him as ‘perfect‘. But he has not kicked on as many would have hoped. And it is clear that he is not one of their best two midfielders.

Tottenham may want to improve on their midfield options further in the summer. And Conte still has the injured Oliver Skipp to welcome back into the fold at some stage in the near future.

Therefore, the time is surely right for Tottenham to sell Winks. It is potentially a move that could work out well for all concerned.
