Report shares Tottenham and Aston Villa boost over Weston McKennie
Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and West Ham have received a potential boost in their reported pursuits of Weston McKennie, according to The Sun.
McKennie is attracting a lot of attention, with the report claiming that Spurs and the Hammers have been scouting the USMNT international regularly this term.
The Sun notes that Villa are also in the running for the 23-year-old midfielder.
But Juve are not going to let McKennie leave on the cheap. They reportedly value the former Schalke star at £25 million.
But it seems that his admirers have received a small boost to their hopes of landing McKennie.
The Sun reports that the Old Lady will consider loaning McKennie out. However, they want an obligation to buy included in any loan.
Obviously, some teams may not see an upside in that kind of deal. But it may help those who are convinced that McKennie would be a good signing but do not have the funds to make a move immediately.
Spurs may be one side that kind of deal appeals to. Both Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero have arrived on loan.
Romero’s move is set to become permanent. So perhaps Fabio Paratici may be open to doing something similar with McKennie.
It certainly appears that Tottenham need more quality and depth in the middle of the park.
Villa may be the wildcards in the race. They proved in the summer that they are not afraid to spend considerable fees.
The likes of Danny Ings, Leon Bailey and Emi Buendia have all arrived for substantial amounts.
So if Dean Smith is certain that McKennie would be a brilliant addition, it seems unlikely that the Villa hierarchy will have many qualms about getting a deal done.
