Southampton are not prepared to stand in Harrison Reed’s way of leaving this summer, but the London Evening Standard reports that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men would be happy to keep the midfielder beyond the window.
Reed’s stock has risen sharply after a superb loan spell at Fulham last season. The 25-year-old was unquestionably one of the best midfielders in the Championship as Scott Parker’s men sealed promotion.

The London Evening Standard reports that Fulham have an £8 million option to buy Reed permanently. And it is suggested that agreeing personal terms will therefore, provide the biggest stumbling block.
It is claimed that agreeing a permanent move is expected to be straightforward. Interestingly however, it appears that the Saints will be ready to include Reed in their plans should a deal fall through.

The London Evening Standard claims that Hasenhuttl would be happy to keep Reed. However, they are not currently planning to stand in his way of leaving due to the lack of assurances they can offer over game-time.
TBR View: Saints may rue losing Reed for £8m
Admittedly, Reed is not a player who has proved himself at the highest level. And he can no longer be considered a youngster.
Nevertheless, Reed’s form last season arguably hints that Southampton may rue losing him for £8 million this summer.
He was outstanding for Parker’s side. His reading of the game in holding midfield was crucial to their success. He was comfortable dictating play, and was combative when he needed to be.
Southampton do not lack options in the middle of the park, even following Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s departure. But Reed appears to have the potential to make an £8 million move look like an absolute steal from Fulham in the coming years.
