Real Betis have told Liverpool to improve their £9 million bid for Aissa Mandi by £1.8 million if they want the centre-back this summer, according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (2/8; page 64).
The Reds are looking to strengthen their centre-back options this summer after selling Dejan Lovren at the start of the window.

And it appears that Mandi is the player Jurgen Klopp wants as Lovren’s replacement. The Sunday Mirror claims that the Premier League champions have offered £9 million for the 28-year-old.
However, the Sunday Mirror (2/8; page 64) has suggested that Betis have asked for £1.8 million more before they agree to sell Mandi, whose contract expires next summer.

TBR View: Liverpool should get Mandi move across the line
Having offered £9 million already, it would be a surprise if the Reds were unwilling to meet Betis’s demands or at least make sure a deal gets done.
The Algeria international would arguably be a shrewd option as Liverpool look to fill the void left by Lovren, who certainly improved as his time on Merseyside went on.
And for a fee of £10.8 million, a move would represent only a small risk for Klopp’s men.
It may not be the piece of business that grabs the most headlines, but a deal for Mandi looks to have the potential to be a very good move from the Reds.
