Report shares Nicolo Zaniolo stance towards potential Tottenham move
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly turned their attentions back onto Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo.
Spurs have been looking for attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window.
Antonio Conte has found himself without Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison at various points this term.
Tottenham were apparently looking at Brighton’s Leandro Trossard. However, Arsenal seem to be closing in on him.
With that in mind, Spurs have turned their attentions elsewhere, and Zaniolo is now back on their radar.
90Min has now reported that Tottenham are ready to make a renewed attempt to sign the Italian.
Spurs were closing in on Zaniolo last summer, only for Roma boss Jose Mourinho to block the loan move.
Now, just 18 months left on his contract, Roma and Zaniolo are reportedly ready to part ways.
Both Conte and Fabio Paratici are said to be big fans of the Italy international.
Paratici has apparently already had contact with his counterparts in Rome about a possible deal.
And while Roma priced Zaniolo at €50m (£43m) last summer, 90Min claims they’ll settle for €30m (£26m) this month.
This could be in the form of a loan with an obligation to buy, which reportedly suits Tottenham.
In addition, there is rival interest from the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Leicester, Leeds and West Ham.
However, Spurs are very much seen as Zaniolo’s preferred option, added the report.
Solid option for Spurs – TBR View
Great news for Tottenham, who look to be on the right track to sign one of the stars of Italian football.
The 23-year-old has made 128 appearances for the Giallorossi, registering 24 goals and 18 assists.
Zaniolo has also won 11 caps for the Azzurri, registering one goal.
He is a versatile player, capable of playing in midfield, on the wings, as a playmaker, as a second striker and even up front.
Admittedly, Zaniolo has endured some difficult seasons in recent times, suffering cruciate ligament injuries to both of his knees.
However, he bounced back and helped Mourinho’s side to the Europa Conference League title last season, scoring the winner in the final.
On Twitter, there have been comparisons between Zaniolo and the likes of Kaka, Gareth Bale and Son Heung-min.
All in all, a great target for Tottenham.
