Jose Mourinho will have £50 million to spend this summer should Tottenham Hotspur miss out on qualifying for the Champions League, according to a report from The Telegraph.
Spurs have plenty of work to do to qualify for next season’s competition. They are five points behind Chelsea with 10 games to go.

Of course, with plenty of uncertainty surrounding Manchester City’s situation, it should also be noted that Mourinho’s men are just two points behind fifth right now.
And it appears that Tottenham’s final position could have major implications for how their summer plays out.

The Telegraph reports that Mourinho will be given an initial £50 million to spend in the window should they fail to make the Champions League. He will also be able to top up his transfer kitty by overseeing player sales.
TBR View – Is Tottenham’s budget a worry?
It may make sense to not break the bank if they are not playing in the Champions League. However, Spurs fans would perhaps be forgiven for being concerned by the reports.
Spending £50 million does not often go too far for a top side. That may allow Mourinho to make one marquee signing.
Unfortunately, Tottenham arguably find themselves in a transitional period heading into the summer. Unless Mourinho can help some of the squad rediscover their best form, it may not be too long before some of those previously-key players need to be replaced.
And Mourinho will arguably do incredibly well to make his budget stretch that far.
Of course, it may be that Mourinho does not need to worry about a £50 million budget. All he needs to do is get Tottenham into the Champions League.
