Liverpool and Mo Salah seem to be going hand in hand with breaking news at the club at the moment, with the forward’s contract situation dominating headlines.
Salah has yet to put pen to paper on fresh terms with the Reds. There has been a number of differing reports on the issue, with claims of wage demands, contract length, bonuses, and more all being mentioned. But the bottom line is that at the moment, Liverpool are no closer to doing a deal.

And according to Goal, things aren’t moving at all in favour of the Reds. Goal has reported that, despite reports suggesting Salah might be willing to drop his wage demands, that there has actually been no movement on that front whatsoever. That suggests Salah hasn’t dropped any demands at all, with the onus very much still on Liverpool to sort things out.
The Reds are thought to be reluctant to break their wage structure to accommodate Salah. However, there is growing concern that they could lose him for nothing unless they do buckle.
TBR’s View: Diaz Arrival Means Liverpool Not Quite As Desperate For Salah
Obviously, Liverpool need to keep Salah if they want to remain a global footballing power on the pitch. His goals, assists, and general performance levels put him right in the top bracket of players.
However, the arrival of Luis Diaz in January has given Liverpool breathing space. Diaz has shown that there are players out there to sign who can replace Salah. Well, to an extent anyway. Breaking the wage structure is a big deal for Liverpool. It risks necessary squad disharmony, which is key to Jurgen Klopp’s whole squad ethos. Certainly, it’s a huge decision for FSG and the Reds board.
On the whole, though, this isn’t exactly great news for Liverpool. Salah seems to be digging in, and his team seem to want their man paid accordingly.
