According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Mauricio Pochettino is not expecting Tottenham to do major business during the January transfer window – despite suggesting that the month could be a good opportunity to sort some issues.
Spurs have made a poor start to the season. They have won one of their last seven games in all competitions, with their most recent fixture ending in a penalty shootout defeat to League Two side Colchester United in the Carabao Cup.

It is an alarming slide for the Champions League finalists. And it appears that a period of transition could be on the cards, with the Daily Mail reporting that the likes of Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are out of contract next summer.
Unsurprisingly, Pochettino suggested, in comments reported by Sky Sports, that January could be an important month for Tottenham to make changes.

But it appears Pochettino may not get as much done as he would like when the window opens. The Daily Mirror has reported that he is not expecting to be able to make significant changes to his squad.
The report also notes that the club are unlikely to push the boat out during the window just to alleviate Pochettino’s frustrations.
TBR’s View
It is hardly a hot take to suggest that January is the more difficult window to work in. So it is probably not a huge surprise that Spurs do not appear to be preparing for a spending spree.
Of course, if a potential Premier League title challenge is on the cards, that should change. Similarly, they may be going into the winter eyeing silverware in Europe or in the FA Cup.
Tottenham will surely turn their form around long before the next window opens. But if they are still struggling, perhaps there will, indeed, be much less urgency in January.
