Leeds United are amongst the Premier League clubs keen on signing Daryl Dike, with Orlando City open to letting the striker leave during the January transfer window, according to a report from 90min.

Leeds fans will be desperate to see new faces arrive during the January transfer window. The Whites, of course, have been decimated by injury. And they have now had their Boxing Day fixture with Liverpool postponed.

One of the players Leeds have been without for much of this season has been Patrick Bamford. Goals have certainly been a problem in his absence, with Raphinha some way clear as the team’s top goalscorer.

Dike has been absolutely prolific over the last 12 months. He started the year on loan at Barnsley, scoring nine times as they stunned many and reached the Championship play-offs.

And he has continued that form upon his return to Florida. The 21-year-old scored 11 times, including five in his last five.

90min reports that Dike has been offered to various Premier League clubs, with at least six keen. And one of those apparently eyeing a move is Leeds.

It is suggested that his asking price of £14.9 million prevented Barnsley from keeping him. And his valuation is unlikely to have changed. A loan leading to a permanent move in the summer is an option.

Daryl Dike would tick a lot of boxes for Leeds

There is an element of risk attached to signing a striker yet to play in the Premier League. Barnsley played a very unique brand of football under Valerien Ismael. So it is difficult to know how his style would fare elsewhere.

Having said that, he has a superb record in his early career. He obviously offers a physical threat, but his movement looks to be extremely clever. He is capable of dropping in and contributing to the build-up of moves.

A loan with an option to buy would be a no-brainer. And Leeds should certainly still consider a move should Orlando push for a loan with an obligation.
