Liverpool are on pole position to sign Denis Zakaria, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that the midfielder dreams of playing for the Reds as his Borussia Monchengladbach contract runs down.
Zakaria looks set to leave the Bundesliga club in one of the coming windows. He has reportedly informed the side that he has no intention of extending his contract, which expires in the summer.

Gladbach are now weighing up whether to try and sell him in January. He is attracting interest from Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Roma.
But it would appear that they may all be set for disappointment.
Gazzetta reports that Zakaria has his heart set on moving to Anfield and working with Jurgen Klopp. And with that, Liverpool find themselves leading the race to sign the Switzerland international.

Zakaria on free transfer may be a no-brainer for Liverpool
Zakaria is potentially not a player that would immediately capture the imagination of Liverpool supporters.
But he is a player who has improved. And he is only just approaching what could be the peak years of his career.
He is in the top 10 in the Bundesliga for pass-success rate this season, according to Whoscored. Meanwhile, only two players in the division complete more dribbles per game than the 25-year-old.
The level of interest in Zakaria tells its own story. He could potentially be playing for Bayern, Barca or Juve next season.
But he wants to join Liverpool. And he is set to be available on a free transfer.
It looks to be a no-brainer for the Reds.
