A report from The Telegraph has claimed that Daniel Levy remains confident that Tottenham Hotspur will reach the knockout stages of the Champions League and finish in the top four in the Premier League this season, and he has decided that there is no need to offer Mauricio Pochettino any public backing.
Spurs have made an underwhelming start to the campaign. Last year’s Champions League finalists are sixth in the top flight after winning three of their opening seven games. They are already 10 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.

And their form in Europe is also causing a concern. They threw away a two-goal lead against Olympiakos in their opening group-stage game. And of course, they were thrashed at home by Bayern Munich this week.
It has led many to ask questions about Pochettino’s future. But The Telegraph has hinted that many at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium believe that no major changes are required.

The report suggests that Levy is still optimistic that Spurs will qualify out of their group and force their way into the top four, and he feels no need to offer any kind of public backing to Pochettino.
TBR’s View
Spurs fans would be forgiven for feeling pessimistic about their season after Bayern’s win. But last season showed that few teams are as capable of a comeback as Pochettino’s Tottenham are.
They were written off after three games in the Champions League and ultimately went to the Nou Camp and got a result in their final game to reach the knockout stages. Tottenham also found their way past Manchester City, before producing the most outrageous comeback of the lot in the semi-final against Ajax.
And the top four remains within touching distance. They will go third with an emphatic win against Brighton on Saturday.
A victory before the international break will not heals all of the wounds Bayern exposed. But it is definitely an opportunity to make a statement.
