Report shares Chelsea's asking price for West Ham target Tammy Abraham

West Ham will have to go close to breaking their transfer record if they hope to sign Tammy Abraham this summer, with The Telegraph reporting that Chelsea want £40 million for the striker.

Abraham’s future with the Blues looks to be up in the air. The 23-year-old actually remains their top goalscorer in all competitions this season.

However, he has been more of a peripheral figure since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard. And it now appears that he could be on the move this summer.

The Telegraph claims that Chelsea are open to selling Abraham, who is attracting interest from the likes of West Ham and Leicester.

But the report claims that the Blues will set an asking price of around £40 million for the 23-year-old.

Of course, that would make Abraham West Ham’s second most expensive signing of all-time, with only Sebastien Haller costing more (via BBC Sport).

The Hammers certainly need to sign a new striker this summer. Like Chelsea, they do not have a player in double figures for league goals this season.

Their top goalscorers are midfielder Tomas Soucek and loanee Jesse Lingard. So they definitely need more options up front.

But paying £40 million for Abraham may look like a gamble to some. He has done extremely well since getting his chance in the Premier League.

But that sort of price would surely eat up a large portion of Moyes’s budget this summer. So perhaps West Ham may want to take their time before making any sort of move.
