Spurs are not hopeful of getting a deal for Lautaro Martinez across the line as things stand, according to a report from Football London.
Tottenham appeared to be closing in on one of the most exciting transfers of the window at the weekend. It was reported that a £60 million fee for the Inter Milan striker had been agreed.

Football London reports that Spurs believed that they had agreed a fee in principle. But it appears that it may have been premature to believe that a transfer may be in the home straight.
According to Football London, Chelsea’s £100 million move for Romelu Lukaku is now all but done.
It is claimed that the Blues’ bid for the Belgian has convinced the Nerazzurri to change their mind about selling Martinez.

And with that, Football London reports that Spurs are not hopeful of getting a deal for the 23-year-old done.
But the report does add that Inter’s financial situation will be worth monitoring should they fail to sell others.
Spurs need to pull something special out of the bag after agreeing Lautaro Martinez fee
It would be an amazing piece of business if Spurs could sign Martinez. Obviously, there is still a chance.
But their hopes currently look bleak. And with that, Fabio Paratici may feel additional pressure in the remaining weeks of the window.
Spurs have come close to land one of the most exciting attacking players plying their trade in Europe.
So letting the window close without signing another marquee target would be even more disappointing for supporters.
Tottenham need at least one new striker anyway. So hopefully, the situation with Martinez prompts Paratici to make sure another of his targets does not slip through his grasp.
