Aston Villa plan to reject bids for Trezeguet this summer, according to a report from the Express and Star, amid the suggestion that the winger is attracting attention.
Trezeguet ended his first season with the Villans as the club’s second highest goalscorer in the Premier League.
The final three goals of his campaign played a key role in guiding Dean Smith’s men to safety. He scored a brace in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace and the winner against Arsenal as Villa stayed up on the final day.
The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Trabzonspor were interested in Trezeguet this summer.
The Turkish side are gearing up for next season’s Champions League qualifiers. And the Mail claimed that they were also looking at the Egyptian’s teammate Marvellous Nakamba.
However, the Express and Star has suggested that Villa are expected to reject all offers for the wide-man.
TBR View: Villa right to keep Trezeguet
Trezeguet’s form was not only worthy of praise during his first year at Villa. Nevertheless, it appears that Smith’s men are making the right call by keeping faith in the 25-year-old.
There were more than a few glimpses of his quality. And his goals late on were vital as Villa stayed up for another year.
Of course, their stance may perhaps change if an eye-watering bid arrives. But Villa should be optimistic that the attacker will vindicate their decision to keep him.
