Report shares Arsenal target Nabil Fekir's asking price
Arsenal could have to pay a fee of £26 million for Nabil Fekir this summer, with Goal reporting that he is on the Gunners’ radar should they fail to keep Martin Odegaard.
Mikel Arteta’s men believe that they are in pole position to sign Odegaard, according to the Daily Star. However, there is plenty of competition for his signature.
The Star reports that his asking price has risen to £50 million. Meanwhile, the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the Norwegian.
Wisely, Arsenal are considering other options in case they cannot keep Odegaard. According to Goal, Fekir is seen as a potential alternative to the 22-year-old.
The report suggests that his contract with Real Betis includes a £77 million release clause. However, it is claimed that £26 million may be enough to convince the club to sell.
TBR View: Fekir a decent option if Odegaard hopes dashed
Fekir has scored 10 league goals and provided nine assists in La Liga since the start of last season. It is a reasonable return, but arguably somewhat underwhelming given the numbers he was achieving at Lyon before his switch to Spain.
He could potentially be a reasonable signing if Arsenal fail to keep Odegaard. And he would seemingly cost little more than half the price.
But Arsenal may need to push the boat out to elevate themselves back up the table. And Odegaard looks to be the player who can get them there faster.
