Newcastle United look set to reignite their interest in Diego Carlos in the summer, with Marca reporting that Sevilla know that the Magpies will return with a fresh bid.
For much of the January transfer window, it appeared that Eddie Howe’s men were determined to bring Carlos to Tyneside.

Carlos was reportedly keen on the move. It was suggested that he had asked Sevilla to leave the club to move to St James’ Park.
Ultimately however, Carlos was not one of the defenders to join Newcastle in January.
They did sign Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn, and Matt Targett. And the trio have already had an impact. Newcastle have won their last three in the Premier League. And they have started to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three.

Obviously, there is a long way to go. But it would appear that thoughts are already turning to the summer.
Marca reports that Sevilla are aware that Newcastle will make a fresh move for Carlos at the end of the season.
Remarkably, they suggest that the Magpies made a bid worth up to £41.8 million last month. Monchi however, decided to keep Carlos as Sevilla challenge for the title in La Liga this season.
Fresh Diego Carlos links highlight the significance of Newcastle staying up this season
Obviously, relegation would be a big blow for Newcastle. But in truth, it would only delay the inevitable rise up the Premier League table. It is surely going to happen sooner or later.
But the fresh links with Diego Carlos show just how significant it will be if Newcastle stay up this term. You would imagine that some of their marquee January targets were simply reluctant to join the club while they did find themselves in a relegation battle.
Those problems will not exist in the summer – should they stay up. And with that, signing Carlos – who was recently labelled ‘extraordinary‘ by club president Pepe Castro – seems entirely feasible.
