Report: Several Tottenham players have told Nicolo Zaniolo to join the club
Several Tottenham Hotspur players told Nicolò Zaniolo to join the club when Spurs played Roma in a friendly in Israel on Saturday, according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.
Zaniolo appears to be Tottenham’s top target for the final weeks of the transfer window. The 23-year-old is a player Antonio Conte really admires. And reports have previously claimed that they have made a £30 million bid for the Italy international.
However, Roma would only consider £41.8 million (€50 million) for Zaniolo.
Tottenham remain in the running. But they want to use players in a swap deal. Gazzetta dello Sport mentions Japhet Tanganga, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso as three options Spurs are prepared to offer to the Giallorossi.
Interestingly, it is not only Conte who wants Zaniolo to make the move.
According to Gazzetta, several Tottenham players invited the youngster to join at the weekend when Spurs faced Roma in a friendly in Haifa.
Talks with Roma are set to take place next week. So it seems that many of the squad will hope for some sort of breakthrough.
Several Tottenham players told Zaniolo to join
It says a lot that the Tottenham squad want Zaniolo. The Spurs ranks are arguably stronger than they have been for a number of years. And yet, some clearly feel that the attacking midfielder would bring a lot to the table.
He is an ‘incredible‘ talent. And you would imagine that many of the squad will trust Conte’s judgement on the player.
It would certainly be a stunning way for Tottenham to end the window if they could now bring Zaniolo to North London before the deadline passes.
