FC Porto manager Sergio Conceicao has declared his interest in becoming the next manager of Newcastle United.
According to Sky Sports, the 44-year-old ‘fits’ the profile of manager the club wants to replace Rafa Benitez with, and is on a ‘long list’ of names.

Conceicao has been in charge at Porto for the last two years and led the club to a league title in 2018. Last term, they lost out to Benfica by just two points.
Apparently Newcastle will not be making any moves until Benitez actually leaves the club on June 30.
Other names currently in the frame are Mikel Arteta, Claudio Ranieri, Garry Monk, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Sean Dyche.
TBR’s view
Conceicao is a very interesting name to have emerged.
The former winger has some decent experience as a manager already, having started out as an assistant at Standard Liege in 2010.
He then moved to Olhanense, and had gigs at Academica, Braga, Vitoria Guimaraes before leaving his homeland to manage Nantes.

But it has been at Porto where he has started to make a name for himself, with an impressive title win in his first season in charge.
Conceicao claimed 11 major honours as a player, suggesting he has winning mentality.
Newcastle supporters will be mourning the departure of Benitez for some time, but Conceicao could well be a shrewd replacement.
