Sergio Conceicao has admirers behind the scenes at Tottenham as reports from the Daily Mail suggest that Nuno Espirito Santo could lose his job.

The Portuguese manager was only appointed in the summer. After five wins and five defeats from his 10 Premier League games in charge and his position is precarious.

Conceicao has been building his reputation with Porto. He has overseen two title-winning campaigns in Portugal and has achieved a win ratio of 71% from 233 games in charge.

Conceicao has also managed Olhanense, Academica, Braga, Vitoria Guimaraes and Nantes.

Another Portuguese option might not go down too well after the Espirito Santo debacle. The style of football under Conceicao should improve, however.

Tottenham are yet to make a decision on their current manager’s future. It is thought that the club are seriously considering a change though.

The likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have been stifled with Espirito Santo adopting an ultra-defensive style.

After spending several years with Porto, it seems likely that Conceicao would fancy a crack at the Premier League.

He would likely view the Tottenham squad as one he could work with and implement his attacking brand of football.

Conceicao could be ideal for Tottenham

At 46-years-old, the Coimbra-born manager could potentially be the man to build over the next few years at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He is a respectable manager and has contacts from a playing career that saw him play for Porto, Lazio, Parma and Inter Milan among other clubs.

Conceicao might not excite the Tottenham fans as such. It is important supporters remain realistic, however, and the Porto boss does seem like a name that deserves to be in the mix.

Whoever gets the gig would be under pressure to perform in the role. Given the expectation levels at Porto though, working at Tottenham should be easy for the £90k-a-week Conceicao.
