Serge Aurier could be on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the European window. According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are hoping to offload Andrea Conti and replace him with Aurier.
AC Milan plan to sell Conti to Werder Bremen despite the player being happy at the San Siro. Werder Bremen have made an offer to sign Conti on loan for the season with the option to purchase him.
Marco Giampaolo is ready to get rid of Conti and try a new direction at full-back. Aurier is the number one candidate to replace the Italian defender. And Tottenham could sanction his departure after leaving him out of the opening two games.
Kyle Walker-Peters has been favoured in the right-back role against Aston Villa and Manchester City. Aurier’s game time has been limited since he joined from PSG and he has been linked with an exit all summer. AC Milan could offer the Ivory Coast defender the chance to reignite his career in Serie A.
Mauricio Pochettino also needs to consider his squad depth. Kieran Trippier departed to join Atletico Madrid earlier this summer, leaving Walker-Peters and Aurier as the only two recognised right-backs.
If Aurier leaves, Juan Foyth is the natural back-up but he is young, inexperienced and predominantly a central defender. Moreover, Walker-Peters needs someone with more experience to learn from and rotate with.
