Scott Brown is expected to leave Celtic this summer, despite the Hoops offering their captain a new contract at Parkhead, according to a report from the Daily Record.
It has been a difficult season for Brown. Celtic have missed out on the league title. And the veteran midfielder’s form has come in for a lot of criticism along the way.

He has arguably been better in recent weeks. And the 35-year-old was superb at the weekend as Celtic drew in the latest Old Firm game.
The Bhoys have reportedly offered the midfielder a new one-year deal. However, he looks set to join one of their Scottish Premiership rivals.

According to the Daily Record, he is expected to become a part of Stephen Glass’ backroom team at Aberdeen in the summer – with an announcement set to be made in the next 48 hours.
It is noted that Glass initially wants him as a player for the Dons while also working as his assistant at Pittodrie.
TBR View: Sad end to Brown’s time at Celtic
It would certainly not have been the way Scott Brown would have hoped to leave Celtic. The midfielder has been a legendary figure with the Hoops during their period of domination.
And you can understand why the Bhoys hoped to keep Brown for another year. There is set to be a lot of changes at the club over the coming months, so keeping the skipper in place – whether he remained captain or not – seemed a smart move.
Having said that, Neil Lennon threatened to taint his legacy as a legend by sticking around too long. So perhaps that may have factored into Brown’s decision when the Aberdeen opportunity came up.
