Report: Sampdoria back in Bryan Gil talks after Spurs lower demands

Sampdoria are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential loan move for Bryan Gil, with Club Doria 46 reporting that Spurs have dropped their asking price for the winger.

Gil is one player facing an uncertain future in North London. He did not really get a chance to impress following his big-money move to the Premier League, despite Graham Roberts describing him as a ‘superstar‘ after one display.

That led to the 21-year-old joining Valencia on loan in January. He did well back in La Liga. But it seems that he is set for another temporary spell away from Tottenham.

Club Doria 42 reports that Sampdoria and Spurs discussed a potential loan deal back in June. However, Tottenham’s demand for a £2.6 million fee put the Serie A side off a move at that stage.

But talks are underway again. And the report states that Tottenham are now open to letting Gil leave for no fee. It is suggested that there will be no option to buy included in the deal.

Sampdoria loan may make sense for Bryan Gil

It is surely too soon to write Gil off at Tottenham. But it does appear that a loan move would be the best option for him in this window.

Antonio Conte was not keen to keep him in January. And he has since been able to add a couple of players who can be used in similar roles.

Gil has proved that he can do well in Spain. So sending him back to La Liga would probably make little sense unless they were looking to build his value up ahead of a potential sale.

Perhaps sending him to Italy will allow Gil to grow as a player in the hope of proving himself to Conte. Clearly, the Spurs boss knows what it takes to be a success in Serie A.
