West Ham United are currently discussing a five-year deal with Said Benrahma, with Sky Sports reporting that the Brentford star could be set to undergo a medical on Thursday.

It has been a turbulent week at the London Stadium. And at one stage, it had appeared that the Hammers may be about to miss out (via Daily Mirror).

However, it now seems that the Irons are edging closer to a deal for Benrahma. Sky Sports reports that a £30 million fee has been agreed, and a medical could take place on Thursday if personal terms are finalised.

The report adds that Benrahma is in talks over a five-year deal.

TBR View: Five-year deal would be further statement from West Ham

Of course, West Ham were never going to hand Benrahma a two-year deal given that they are about to spend around £30 million.

But it still appears to be a big statement to agree a five-year contract. The Algeria international is 25 now, so the Irons are tying him down for what should be the best years of his career.

Perhaps, some may deem it to be something of a gamble given his lack of Premier League experience. And you could certainly empathise with any Hammers fan refusing to get carried away until a deal is done.

But it does appear that a move is now getting closer. And Benrahma’s form with the Bees hints that he could become the latest Championship star to prove a success story at West Ham.
