Spanish outlet Don Balon have claimed that Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane wants his club to sign Villarreal youngster Samu Chukwueze, as he continues to shine in La Liga despite his tender age.
Still only 20, Nigeria international Chukwueze is renowned for his explosive speed from out wide – but despite his young age, he has also showed maturity in front of goal. The winger has scored 10 goals now in 47 outings for Villarreal.
He has netted twice this season – against second-placed Granada and Real Betis – as well as creating another two goals during his nine appearances. The report claims he is considered one of Villarreal’s most attacking threats.
Mo Salah missed the 1-1 draw against Manchester United and in his absence, Liverpool failed to win. It has made the Reds think that they need replacements for their front three, and Mane has suggested £26m-rated Chukwueze.
TBR’s view – Chukwueze a bargain at £26m, but is he Liverpool standard
Given Chukwueze is performing in one of the best leagues in the world at such a young age, showing both raw talent and maturity of a player beyond his years, £26million is a bargain.
The Nigerian speed machine has enormous potential and the chance to become one of the best African players in European football. But, is he good enough for Liverpool?
Chukwueze is impressing because he is first-choice at Villarreal and is getting plenty of first-team exposure. His confidence is high. But at Liverpool, he would be forced to feed off scraps. Liverpool must be careful if they do go to sign Chukwueze.
