Report: Second Liverpool star now wants new big-money contract with Salah

Liverpool could have another contract problem on their hands in the form of Sadio Mane, according to a report from Goal this weekend.

Per Goal’s report, Mane only has 18 months to run on his current contract at Anfield and is reportedly seeking fresh terms if he can get them. Goal claim that while Mane’s agent isn’t being quite as vocal in public, the Senegalese forward wants a new deal with big salary to reflect his status.

That status, of course, is one of the world’s very best attackers. Mane scored once again this weekend as Liverpool dismantled Arsenal at Anfield 4-0.

As yet, the Reds have yet to agree a new deal with Salah. It’s a big talking point at the club, with the Reds apparently needing to break their wage structure to ensure Salah remains in Liverpool.

Mane, too, is also looking for big money and crucially, wants to stay in Liverpool if he can.

FSG, then, need to make a decision in the coming months, or risk losing both Mane and Salah before they even know it.

TBR’s View: Keeping Mane just as vital as Salah for Liverpool

Sadio Mane is nothing short of superb. Sure, at times he isn’t quite as consistent as the brilliant Salah. But more often than not, he is one of Liverpool’s best players.

Wage structure or not, Liverpool need to find a way of keeping both Mane and Salah happy here. And if that means paying them the big bucks, then it might have to be done.

The thought of Mane going to another club because his contract isn’t sorted will send shivers down the spine of Reds fans. But with just 18 months remaining on his deal, FSG need to start thinking about this, and quickly.

If Sadio Mane was to leave Liverpool, and Salah stayed, it would leave a bitter taste.
