Report rules out Arsenal swoop for Ryan Fraser and Willian

Arsenal’s transfer activity will likely revolve around plenty of free transfers and potentially the odd piece of wheeling and dealing regarding a swap deal.

With that in mind, plenty of players whose contracts are expiring have been linked with movies to The Emirates recently.

Two such players are current Premier League wingers Ryan Fraser and Willian of Bournemouth and Chelsea respectively.

According to TEAMtalk in April, Arsenal were extremely confident of securing a deal for Fraser. As for Willian, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur have both been linked with a move for the Brazilian, who is all set to depart London rivals, Chelsea.

But Football.London is now reporting that a deal is unlikely for either player.

The report claims that whilst Arsenal were keen on Fraser they have now cooled on the Scottish international. Fraser was hot property 12 months ago after scoring eight goals and providing 15 assists for the Cherries in 2018-19. However, the 26-year-old has struggled to replicate that form this season, providing just four assists and scoring once as Bournemouth struggled for form.

As for Willian, the report claims the Brazilian wants a three-year deal which Arsenal are not willing to offer. Therefore, the experienced wideman is off-limits.

Considering Fraser’s dip in productivity and Willian’s advancing years, not many Arsenal fans will be mourning the apparent loss of desire to sign either of the pair.

The hope will be Arsenal can develop their younger wide talents such as Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith-Rowe instead.
