Report: Ronaldo seeking a move to Manchester City
What’s the story?
Any move for the Portuguese star allegedly depends on if the Citizens sign Harry Kane.
So far, the northwest giants have been frustrated in their efforts to sign the England international.
And now it seems they could turn to the former Manchester United man. He was offered to Pep Guardiola’s side for £21m last week, however, City do not want to pay a transfer fee.
The team have no problem meeting the attacker’s astronomical wages of €32m (£27m). Meanwhile, Aymeric Laporte could be included in a deal for Ronaldo.
Ronaldo would be a better signing than Kane
While he is now 36, he is still one of the best players in the world.
And Ronaldo would be a better signing for Manchester City than Kane for one main reason.
Next summer, Erling Haaland will become available for a fee believed to be just £64m.
When you compare the Norwegian to the Tottenham man, a move for the 21-year-old makes far more sense.
Haaland is younger, just as lethal in front of goal and would cost considerably less than Kane. They are three very good reasons that he is a better signing.
Meanwhile, the Englishman has three years left on his deal, so it is hard to imagine Levy will drop his asking price next summer.
Offer Ronaldo a short-term deal this summer before signing the cheaper and better Haaland over Kane next summer.
The ideal transfer plans have fallen into place, but will City follow them?
