Italian newspaper Gazzette Dello Sport have claimed that AS Roma are interested in raiding Neil Lennon’s Celtic to sign Jeremie Frimpong, but they may have to spend £18million to land the right-back come January.
Frimpong, 20, only joined Celtic from Manchester City for a nominal fee in the summer of 2019. The Netherlands youth international broke into the side last season and has remained first choice this time around – clocking up 23 games this term.
He has shown versatility. He can play as a right-back, on the right of a back five as a wing-back or even as a right midfielder. His form has not gone unnoticed by Paulo Fonseca, who has received a scout report from his own agent Marco Abreu.
The report is a glowing one and has convinced Fonseca to pursue a move. Whether Celtic will accept an offer remains to be seen, but surely the chance of a big profit and the ability to bring some big signings in January could prove tempting.

TBR’s view – £18million for Frimpong, Celtic have got to accept
Frimpong is a top talent with enormous potential, bags of pace, the ability to score goals and create – but also remain solid at the back. But it is that latter trait that has come into question this season.
Certainly, Frimpong is much better going forward then defending his own goal. Just look at the 2-2 draw with Hibernian, Frimpong is at fault for both goals – backing off instead of going up for an aerial duel.
While Frimpong has enormous potential, he has weaknesses and if Celtic receive an offer that is in eight figures – let alone £18million – they should accept.
