Roma are now interested in signing Tanguy Ndombele on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, in a move that could have implications for Spurs’ pursuit of Nicolo Zaniolo, according to a report from Roma Giallorossa.

Fabio Paratici is in Italy to discuss some potential outgoings from the Spurs squad. But he also has his eye on a potential incoming.

Reports this week claimed that the Tottenham director wants to discuss a potential move for Zaniolo. Antonio Conte is a huge fan of the 23-year-old. And a summer sale could indeed be possible.

Roma Giallorossa reports that Jose Mourinho’s men want £42.6 million for the attacking midfielder. Meanwhile, it was previously suggested that Spurs would have to move players on before they could bid for the Italy international.

Perhaps a fantastic opportunity has now emerged. Roma Giallorossa reports that Roma now want to sign Ndombele. The Serie A side are open to a loan move that includes an obligation to buy.

No talks over a swap deal are currently taking place. But selling Zaniolo would leave Roma with the funds to sign Ndombele.

Roma eye deal to take Ndombele on loan from Tottenham

Spurs have clearly had little luck offloading Ndombele. He has come back after an underwhelming loan spell at Lyon last year. So another loan may make real sense in this window.

Obviously, the two clubs still need to agree on a future fee. But if Roma are willing to commit to a deal, and it helps Tottenham land Zaniolo, it is surely in everyone’s best interests to agree a move.

The report does suggest that Zaniolo is not keen to leave Italy. But perhaps that situation may change if Spurs make a big offer and show just how much they want to sign him.

Meanwhile, Ndombele could be reunited with a manager who labelled him ‘magnificent‘. He definitely has the talent to become the latest player to relaunch their career in Italy.
