Report: Rodrigo not yet ruled out of Leeds clash with Wolves
Leeds United forward Rodrigo remains a doubt to feature for the Whites on Friday, but The Athletic reports that the Spaniard has not yet been ruled out of the game.
Rodrigo’s last two performances have probably perfectly summed up how his entire spell at Elland Road has played out. He was one of a number of players who were not at the races last Thursday as Leeds were thrashed by Aston Villa.
He gave the ball away too cheaply. And the Spaniard seemed to be seriously out of form. It was little surprise when Jesse Marsch took him off at half-time against the Villans.
Despite those struggles, he kept his place for the vital clash with Norwich on Sunday. And when Leeds needed the 31-year-old to step up, Rodrigo definitely did.
The forward broke the deadlock with a deflected goal during the first-half. And he was electric throughout the game. Marsch described him as ‘incredible‘ afterwards.
Unfortunately, Rodrigo’s game would once again end prematurely. He came off around the hour-mark due to a tight quad muscle.
Marsch was unable to provide too much of an update on the forward after the game. But The Athletic reports that he is a doubt to face Wolves on Friday. He is however, yet to be ruled out.
Leeds lost a lot once Rodrigo came off against Norwich
Of course, it is important not to get too carried away. Norwich look to be doomed in the battle to stay in the Premier League. And their form had been as poor as Leeds’ in the build-up to the clash.
But Rodrigo looked absolutely brilliant against the Canaries. And the substitution looked to be something of a turning point in the game.
That also has something to do with Marsch introducing Robin Koch and trying to see the game out. But there is no doubt that Rodrigo coming off hurt Leeds.
It would be a big boost therefore, if Marsch could name an unchanged Leeds side against Wolves, with Rodrigo keeping his place.
