Report: Relegation could see Charlie Kelman back on Tottenham radar

Tottenham Hotspur could be back in for talented 18-year-old frontman Charlie Kelman this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The report comments on Tottenham’s previous interest in the player, having a January transfer deadline day bid rejected for the teenager.

It was reported in February by the Basildon, Canvey and Southend Echo that both Tottenham and Sunderland had made six-figure bids for the striker, but had been knocked back by chairman Ron Martin.

Since then, Southend have struggled to turnaround their form and they look doomed to relegation to League Two.

The Mail reports that Southend’s relegation could see them looking to cash in on their Roots Hall asset and Tottenham ‘could reignite their interest’ in the player.

Kelman has been one of the only bright spots in a dismal season for the Shrimpers. Kelman has scored seven goals in 19 games for the club this season and that form has clearly caught the eye of Tottenham. He scored in his professional debut in January 2019, with a halfway line effort against Plymouth, and has since gone on to become a major talent for the Essex club

The Basildon-born star, who has represented the United States at under-20 level having spent much of his youth in Texas, is clearly talented and Tottenham are right to be in the running for his signature once again.
