Celtic are not on the brink of signing Joe Hart, despite rumours doing the rounds this week that the former England international’s move to Parkhead was imminent.
That is according to a report from the Daily Record, addressing the rumours of a potential done deal.
Celtic are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper following the departures of both Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon this summer.

Hart has emerged as a potential target, following his release from Premier League side Burnley at the end of his contract.
However, whilst the report did confirm that talks have taken place, ‘a deal isn’t close’ and they have not moved past the stage Celtic fans were previously aware of, where initial talks had taken place.
Celtic fans have had a mixed reaction to the idea of signing Hart. Some remember his best years at Manchester City under the management of Roberto Mancini whilst others point out his mistakes at Torino, West Ham and Burnley as well as his latter appearances for England – including being embarrassed by Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths twice at Hampden Park.
So one half of Celtic fans will likely be pleased to hear that, as of now, there is no ‘done deal; to sign Hart. But it still seems an option that could be on the table to sort the Bhoys’ goalkeeping problems.
