Report: Recently relegated Amiens want to bring Celtic star Christopher Jullien back to France

Celtic might be about to field an ambitious transfer approach for one of their star players.

According to a report from Foot-Sur7, French outfit Amiens are keen on a deal for Celtic defender Christopher Jullien.

The report claims that the Celtic defender ‘could return’ to France as Amiens consider making a move for the 27-year-old.

No financial details were given but it appears that The Unicorns are keen on one of Celtic’s key players.

Is Jullien leaving Celtic?

It seems very unlikely. Celtic only signed the player from Toulouse last summer in a deal worth around a reported (Daily Record) £8 million.

That is a sizeable investment from the Bhoys and Jullien has been a success story this season. The Frenchman has featured in 46 games for the club in all competitions, forming a formidable partnership with Kristoffer Ajer at the back for Neil Lennon’s side.

The Celtic boss is a huge fan of his towering defender, telling the club’s official website last October that Jullien is ‘a rock’  and ‘outstanding’ after a brilliant performance against Lazio in the Europa League.

Celtic will not be keen to sell, especially as they remain short in the position following the expiration of Jozo Simunovic’s contract at Parkhead.

Celtic fans might be worried if Amiens were cash-rich or perhaps challenging for Europe. However, along with Jullien’s former team Toulouse, they were relegated to Ligue 2 last season.

It is hard to see why Jullien would want to leave Celtic for a team on a downward trend and Celtic fans can likely rest easy regarding this transfer story.
