Spanish website El Nacional claim that Real Madrid want to sign Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, in next summer’s transfer window.

The report states that Real Madrid need a right-back, with Alvaro Odriozola struggling on loan and Dani Carvajal still suffering numerous injuries.

Alexander-Arnold, 22, is expected to surpass 200 appearances for Liverpool this season. An incredible feat for a player that is still so young.

But the report states that having watched Alexander-Arnold up close, ex-Everton gaffer Ancelotti wants to bring the Liverpool star to the Bernabeu.

He is not the only right-back, with PSG’s Achraf Hakimi an option – despite the player coming through at Madrid. Antonio Rudiger is also a target.

Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid: Could Liverpool star be tempted?

Many see Alexander-Arnold as the next Steven Gerrard, a player that has the potential to be a one-club man – to break the all-time appearance record.

But what does Alexander-Arnold feel like? Does he think he will remain at Liverpool until the end, or does he want to experience other cultures?

If he is to leave Liverpool, it is likely that there is only going to be a handful of clubs that can tempt him. Real Madrid is surely up there.

With Barcelona struggling and Atletico Madrid failing to really improve an ageing side of late, Real are certainly favourites to win La Liga.

Next summer, a move to Real Madrid might prove incredibly tempting. But Liverpool will want a fee well over £100million for the right-back.
