Report: Real Madrid want Leeds and West Ham target Fabio Carvalho

It was The Sun on Sunday (8/8; page 66) who reported one month ago that Leeds United and West Ham want Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho.

Carvalho has caught the eye thanks to a combination of an outrageous record in under-23 football, a fantastic start to life in the first-team, and a contract that expires next summer.

The Sun on Sunday noted that Porto and Norwich also want the 19-year-old. And it was claimed that he had rejected a new deal at Craven Cottage.

Unfortunately, for the likes of Leeds and West Ham, the amount of interest in him appears to have increased quite considerably in recent times.

According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid now want Carvalho. And they also suggest that a number of the Premier League’s top 10 also want the teenager.

Leeds and West Ham better moves for Carvalho than Real Madrid

Turning down Real Madrid would not be easy for the attacking midfielder. They remain one of the world’s biggest clubs.

Having said that, there is surely an argument that joining a club such as Leeds or West Ham would be a better move if he decides to leave Fulham.

The path to the first-team is much clearer at Elland Road or the London Stadium.

Unfortunately, a number of young players have lost out after poorly timing a move to one of Europe’s heavyweights in the past.

Carvalho is a serious talent. He scored 16 goals in 39 under-23 games for Fulham. And he has started this season with three goals in his first five appearances in the Championship.

It seems more than likely that many more clubs will be linked before Carvalho makes a final decision on his future.
