According to Spanish outlet, AS, Real Madrid have now entered the discussion when it comes to RB Leipzig defender, Ibrahima Konate.

The report claims Madrid are hoping to negotiate a deal with the German outfit and believe they could land Konate for less than £25m. That is some way less than the £45m release clause the defender is said to have in his contract.

Konate is said to be a target for both Liverpool and Arsenal over the in the Premier League. His defensive partner, Dayot Upamecano, has already agreed to move to Bayern Munich.

The Evening Standard claimed just a week or so back that Konate was on the list of defenders Arsenal were keen on. Liverpool, meanwhile, have been touted as a possible destination for Konate since last summer.

The big defender is widely seen as one of the best young defensive talents in Europe. AS claims Zidane sees Konate as a potential replacement for Raphael Varane.

TBR View: Madrid could play a big part this summer, Arsenal will need to be patient

Real Madrid seem to be being linked with players all over the place once again. It looks like they might be in for something of a summer rebuild, which, naturally, sees a lot of names thrown their way.

Konate is certainly an interesting one. He won’t be staying with Leipzig forever, so it’s only natural teams will want him this summer.

He certainly looks the business, in fairness. Tall, strong, quick, he’s got everything a modern central defender needs. If Arsenal can somehow beat Madrid to a deal, it would be quite the coup.
