Real Madrid defender, Sergio Ramos, has been given a deadline of the end of March to agree to a new deal with the Spanish giants.

That is according to Mundo Deportivo, who claim Madrid are beginning to run out of patience when it comes to Ramos. The Spaniard, who has over 170 caps for Spain and has won everything in the game, is out of contract this summer.

Ramos is reportedly on a contract worth around £225k-a-week in Madrid. However, the La Liga side are, like many others, experiencing financial difficulties and could struggle to match or improve that deal.

The news from Spain could perk the interest of Spurs and Jose Mourinho. The North London outfit were linked with a move for Ramos last month, according to the Evening Standard.

And with Mourinho apparently still desperate to land a new central defender when he can, he could well turn to Ramos and his former club to solve his problem.

The thought of Ramos leaving Madrid has never really entered the realms of possibility. However, given his current situation and the worldwide financial markets, it could well happen.

TBR View: Mourinho will swoop if he gets even the slightest sniff of success here

They don’t come much better and more accomplished than Sergio Ramos. His success in the game is matched by but a few and even well into his 30s, he remains a world-class performer in peak condition.

He’d be brilliant at Spurs. His leadership, winning mentality, and drive to succeed would surely rub off on the club.

If Mourinho gets even an inkling he can land Ramos, you can bet your bottom dollar he’ll be pushing Daniel Levy to try and sort a deal.
