Report: Real Madrid ‘not contemplating’ permanent Martin Odegaard to Arsenal deal

The constant speculation surrounding Martin Odegaard’s long-term future with Arsenal doesn’t seem to be going away it seems.

It remains unclear whether Odegaard will make his move from Real Madrid to the Gunners a permanent one. Differing reports, almost on a weekly basis now, seem to suggest opposite things.

And those reports are still coming, it seems. Marca has today claimed that Madrid have no intention of selling Odegaard to the Gunners, with the words ‘not contemplating’ the terms used in the report.

If true, that would represent a bitter blow for the Gunners, who have just started to see the best of Odegaard. The Norwegian, playing in behind the forwards under Mikel Arteta, is thriving and has looked every bit the part in recent weeks.

The report claims Arteta and Arsenal will be more than happy to keep Odegaard long-term. However, Madrid are also wanting to see if they can get the best from their investment.

A lot, it seems, will depend on the future of Zinedine Zidane as manager of Los Blancos.

TBR View: Odegaard is going to be the saga of the summer

You can just see it already. Every year there is a player that is linked with a move and it seems to rumble on and on. Odegaard is going to be that man.

Mesut Ozil dominated headlines earlier in the season with Arsenal, while Lucas Torreira is another one who is always in the news.

Odegaard is going to be the one we are following all summer we suspect. Arsenal, of course, would love to sign him permanently but Madrid are in no rush to sort any deal. It’s a case, then, of simply playing the waiting game for the Gunners.
