France Football have claimed that Real Madrid have made an enquiry to sign Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, as the striker looks set to enter the final 12 months of his current contract.
Aubameyang, 30, has proved once again that he is one of the best strikers in European football this season. In a struggling Arsenal side, the Gabonese ace has netted 20 goals and one assist in 32 league and cup appearances for the Gunners.
However, the former Borussia Dortmund star is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract. Barcelona have been strongly linked with a move for Aubameyang over the past few weeks, but they are not the only side.
The report now claims Madrid have made an enquiry to sign Aubameyang as Real look for top-quality competition for French star Karim Benzema, who has continued his stunning form despite his age. At 32, he has scored 19 goals this term.
TBR’s view – Arsenal should request player-plus-cash deal
It is believed interested parties will have to spend £43.5million to sign Aubameyang, with Barcelona and Inter Milan also keen on the striker. Arsenal, meanwhile, have been linked with a number of Madrid players – Luka Jovic for one.
Surely, if Arsenal want Aubameyang, Arsenal should request a small fee and Serbian beast Jovic to instantly solve their lack of talismanic striker – but also bringing in cash for a player that could leave for nothing in little over 12 months.
