Real Madrid have additional motivation to try and sign Erling Haaland this summer, with Spanish outlet Defensa Central reporting that Los Blancos hope that a deal for the striker would help convince Arsenal loanee Martin Odegaard to stay.
Odegaard’s future has already been a talking point for some time. He had been superb for the Gunners in the weeks leading into the international break.

As noted by The Times, Mikel Arteta would be keen to keep the 22-year-old in some capacity next season.
And according to Defensa Central, Real will not stand in his way if he wants to leave. It is suggested that he is very comfortable in North London.
The report claims that Madrid will not keep Odegaard against his will – provided that his asking price is met. But Zinedine Zidane’s men are hoping that they can ensure that the playmaker wants to return to the fold at the Bernabeu.

According to Defensa Central, Madrid not only want to sign Haaland so they boast one of the best goalscorers in world football right now, but they also hope that it will soften Odegaard’s stance about his future.
Of course, the pair play together at international level. And you can imagine that Odegaard would love the chance to link up with his countryman on a more regular basis.
TBR View: Haaland interest may work in Arsenal’s favour if Madrid need finances boost
The good news for Arsenal is Madrid are unlikely to be the only side keen on Haaland. The Telegraph reports that both Manchester City and Chelsea also want the Borussia Dortmund star.
And in truth, the Gunners may actually feel that Madrid’s interest in Haaland could help them. Zidane’s side may need to raise the funds from somewhere to make a move.
In that scenario, a big offer for Odegaard could potentially work out for all parties.
