Real Betis have made contact with Marcelo Bielsa’s representatives in the hope that they can potentially lure the Leeds United boss away ahead of next season, according to a report from Spanish outlet El Desmarque.
The report suggests that Rubi is on the brink at Estadio Benito Villamarin. They sit 13th in La Liga and they have failed to win any of their last five league games.
It is suggested that Rubi needs a miracle run to save his job. But it is more than likely that Betis will have a new head coach heading into the new campaign.
And it is suggested by El Desmarque that Bielsa is the man they want. The club have reportedly made contact with his representatives.
TBR View – Leeds fans surely have little to worry about if promotion is secured
It is difficult to imagine Betis’s interest forcing Bielsa into a change of plans.
Leeds are in a fantastic position in the Championship promotion race, and it seems unlikely that he will be interested in leaving when the job is unfinished.
Of course, many Leeds supporters are not expecting Bielsa to stay for a third season should they fail to get promoted anyway.
And perhaps he may then show an interest in heading to Spain.
But if Leeds get across the line and Bielsa feels that he has the tools to tackle the Premier League, he will surely have no interest in considering any move away.
