Rangers winger Kai Kennedy is being tracked by Manchester City and Bayern Munich as talks over a new deal at Ibrox drag on, according to a report from the Daily Record.
Kennedy is one of the most exciting prospects currently coming through at Ibrox. As reported by the Record, he is regularly training with the first-team and was in contention to make the matchday squad for their recent win against Hamilton.
The Daily Record reports that Rangers are looking to agree a new deal with the 17-year-old. His current terms expire in 2021. And it appears that he is attracting plenty of admirers.
According to the Daily Record, the Cityzens and Bayern are monitoring his progress. It is also suggested that Roma remain interested having previously made contract about a deal.
Given the stature of the clubs tracking in Kennedy, it is clear that it would be a big blow for Rangers to lose him.
It could be a roll of the dice, but perhaps Steven Gerrard should hand him his first-team chance in the near future. It could be beneficial to emphasise to Kennedy that the path to the senior side is there for him.
Of course, Gerrard will not throw him in if he is not ready. With the Scottish Premiership title race threatening to come down to the barest of margins, it is clearly a gamble.
And should he impress while an agreement is yet to be reached over a new contract, it may become more difficult to keep him.
It would certainly be interesting to know what Kennedy makes of the interest. That would surely help Gerrard decide his next move.
