Jamie Murphy is closing on sealing a loan move away from Rangers this month, but the Daily Record reports that the Gers winger is still holding out hope of turning his Ibrox career around from next season.
Murphy has made just two appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side this term after spending the large majority of the last campaign out with injury.
It will come as little surprise therefore, that Murphy is set to be on the move this month. The Daily Record reports that he is set to join Burton Albion on loan for the rest of the season.
That may leave some Rangers fans wondering whether the 4-0 win over Ross County in October will prove to be his final appearance for the Light Blues.
But it would appear that Murphy is hoping that that is not the case.
According to the Record, the £1 million signing wants to fight for his place when he returns in the summer.
TBR View – Is Murphy fighting a losing battle?
Murphy may not be giving up on turning his Rangers career around. But he is surely going to have to produce something special to win Gerrard round.
Greg Docherty scored 10 goals on loan in League One last season, but has not featured for the Gers since August. Murphy is heading to the same division having seemingly been as close to the periphery this term.
Murphy was superb during his loan spell before he joined the Gers permanently. And he has been desperately unlucky with injury.
But it is not going to be at all easy to prove at the Pirelli Stadium that he is still good enough for another opportunity upon his return to Ibrox.
