Rangers are interested in seeing off some hefty competition to bring Pablo Torre to Ibrox, according to a report from the Daily Record.

Torre is attracting attention after some superb performances for Racing de Santander this term. Racing are now plying their trade in the third tier in Spain. They currently find themselves second in the table.

The 18-year-old has three goals and six assists in all competitions for the title-chasers. But perhaps he may not be at the club much longer.

The Daily Record reports that Rangers want Torre. Meanwhile, Real Madrid and clubs in Italy are also admirers of the teenager.

Interestingly, the report claims that he has a release clause of around £4 million. However, the Daily Record suggests that he could cost even less with Racing keen to raise some cash.

Pablo Torre a potential wildcard signing for Rangers?

Torre has spent the majority of his career to date in a central attacking midfield role. However, he has also played on both flanks. In total, he has seven goals and 11 assists in 42 games for Racing.

This season, he is playing alongside former Scotland youth international Jack Harper. The striker is on loan from Getafe.

It would be interesting to see how Giovanni Van Bronckhorst would intend to use Torre. He has largely stuck by the 4-3-3 system that brought the side a lot of success before his arrival.

There are questions being asked about the future of Joe Aribo. So perhaps it is felt that there is a desire to ensure that they have the options to continue contributing goals and assists from those behind the forward line.
