Rangers are reportedly set to sign Manchester City winger Brandon Barker this summer.
According to the Daily Mail in its live blog (August 8, 08:13am), the 22-year-old is set to complete a move to Ibrox.
It is understood that he will leave Premier League champions Manchester City and join the Scottish outfit on a free transfer.
Barker is someone who has come through the academy ranks at Manchester City, but is finally set for a permanent exit after four loan spells away.
The diminutive attacker is someone with express pace and is a great dribbler, but the demands at the Etihad Stadium are extremely high.
He’s previously had a loan spell in Scotland with Hibernian, where he managed two goals and five assists in 30 games.
Barker spent last season out on loan with Preston in the Championship, but scored just two goals and managed two assists in 20 appearances.
The youngster is a wide player with strong potential, but he’s yet to deliver on that yet and will need to step his game up if his move to Ibrox is completed.
Rangers are still looking for someone to fill the void left by last season’s loanee Ryan Kent and it would be a surprise if Barker is ready for that yet.
But he will be another fresh face through the door for Steen Gerrard to work with and is a low-risk signing on a free.
