Dutch outlet Voetbal24 have claimed that Ranger are to table an offer that RSC Anderlecht manager Vincent Kompany ‘cannot refuse’ for 21-year-old talent Francis Amuzu – who has impressed for his boyhood club, despite his tender age.
Amuzu has already played 84 times for Anderlecht in all competitions, and has earned 14 caps for Belgium’s Under-21 side as he continues to shine under Kompany. He has had a hand in 13 goals during that time, despite only starting 46 of his 84 games.
Rangers have a good connection with Anderlecht, having signed Kemar Roofe from the Belgian side last summer. Now, they are desperate to raid Anderlecht again with Rangers unwilling to be told they cannot sign Amuzu this month.
It is believe they will make an offer that Anderlecht that ‘cannot be refused’. Anderlecht are struggling financially and the report claims they ‘cannot afford to ignore such an offer’. But there are conflicting reports over that price.
Kick GH claimed in December that clubs would have to pay £13.5million with Leipzig and Olympiacos interested. But Sports World Ghana say that there is a £3.6million release clause in the player’s Anderlecht contract.
TBR’s view – Rangers could do with additions out wide
That is because Greg Stewart will have left the club come the summer when his contract expires, Jordan Jones may have played his last game for the Gers, Glenn Middleton is struggling to break in and others struggle to impress Steven Gerrard.
Right now, in the first team, Gerrard has Kemar Roofe, Ianis Hagi, Ryan Kent and Brandon Barker as options. But Barker has hardly been prolific in terms of goals and assists, and Amuzu could be brought in to replace him.
