Report: Rangers targeting Crysencio Summerville but Dick Advocaat wants to keep him

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is currently in the process of trying to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

Plenty of improvements still need to be made at Ibrox if Rangers are going to mount a serious and potentially successful title challenge on their Old Firm rivals.

One player who has seemingly been on their radar is talented Dutch youngster Crysencio Summerville.

That is according to a report from Voetbal International, who claim that Rangers are one of four teams to have shown an interest in signing the teenage attacker this summer.

The report suggests that Rangers are interested, but that his current club Feyenoord are ready to extend his current contract, which expires in a year.

Wolves have reportedly had a seven-figure sum rejected for the player, whilst Anderlecht and Red Bull Salzburg are also keen.

Rangers fans will probably be wondering why the club would be pursuing yet another winger, but considering the Dutchman’s age, it would be fair to say Summerville would be with the future in mind.

The Dutch under-20 international spent last season on loan at ADO Den Haag but it is suggested that Dick Advocaat, the former Rangers boss, is ready to include him in the first-team in Rotterdam next season.

It seems this is a player Rangers will struggle to get hold of this summer. However, it is comforting to see the club scouting such talented young players from across the continent.
